Emily Gerhard, Barrister & Solicitor in Toronto
Meet Emily Gerhard
I earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Toronto in 2017. While I was a law student I volunteered with the International Human Rights Program, represented the University of Toronto at the 2017 Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and completed a summer fellowship with the FCJ Refugee Centre.
Before attending law school I spent nearly five years as an immigrant in Israel so I know what a challenge it can be to find your way in a new country. It was that experience that led to my interest in immigration and refugee law, which I have been working in since graduating. I’ve helped clients succeed with Express Entry applications, work and study permits, family sponsorships and Humanitarian & Compassionate requests, and I’ve represented clients at their refugee hearings and written winning refugee appeals and requests for Judicial Review before the Federal Court.
In addition to my practice, I work as an Analyst with Community Legal Education Ontario.
